Problem
When labour begins, people need to know two things fast: how long contractions last, how far apart they are, and when it's time to go to hospital. Existing contraction timers are cluttered and cognitively heavy — exactly wrong for the moment they're used in. The user is mid-contraction: in pain, anxious, one-handed, and unable to focus.
• Existing timers demand attention at the exact moment the user has none — in pain, one-handed, often in a dim room at 3am.
• Raw numbers with no interpretation, leaving users to do mental arithmetic mid-contraction.
• No clear signal for the only decision that matters: when to call a provider or leave for hospital.

Solution
A one-tap timer that does the thinking for the user. Tap to start a contraction, tap to stop — the app records duration, intensity and interval, reads the pattern back in plain language, and tells you when it's time to call. Launched in early 2024 as a 0→1 feature: 60% adoption among late-stage pregnancy users in the first quarter, and over 500,000 recorded sessions.
• One enormous, unmissable action — start and stop in a single tap, sized and placed for a shaking thumb.
• Glanceable patterns over raw data: contractions per hour, average duration, average interval and a live timeline that answers ‘are they getting closer?’ without reading a number.
• Guidance built into the logic — the 5-1-1 rule runs continuously and surfaces a plain-language labour alert, so no one is interpreting data in a crisis.
